Hi there! This month has been crazy and we have done so many different activities at home with Arianna, I have lost track. This project was for myself only, though, as I wanted for a while a pom pom Christmas tree and it takes patience to make one, and Arianna lacks it nowadays.
|Learn how to make the cardboard gnomes here|
- Wool yarns in the colours chosen for the tree. It works better having different shades or even different colours
- Hot glue gun or double sided tape
- Stronger cardboard
- pom pom maker (optional)
Use the pom pom maker (if you opted for one) or your own technique to make the pom poms. It took me almost 50 pom poms for a tree of 40 cm (15.7 in) height. This number will vary based on the size of the tree you want to make.
Cut the cardboard into a semicircle using the scissors. the height of the cone needs to be the diameter of the semicircle!
Make a cone out of the cardboard and secure it with sellotape or if the cardboard your used is stronger, use the hot glue gun or even a stapler to do so.
I used the double sided tape to stick the pom poms on the cardboard cone, but using a hot glue gun will make it more durable. With Arianna around I avoid using it, though, as she tries to help me far too much and it’s not safe for her. But the tree looks still well although Ari keeps moving it from room to room, so the double sided tape is quite strong as well.
The Christmas tree is ready to be displayed in your home or you can even make it a gift if you chose so! You can dazzle it with decorations or some fairy lights for a greater effect!
