Hello there! 2020 is quite a year, huh? Coronavirus took over the world and the last months were horrible for everyone, especially the kids.
Halloween is coming, and although I do not celebrate it in a true form, I love the idea of children having costumes and looking forward to go get that candy, as it is so much fun and because, why not?
This year though, with the pandemic, it is quite difficult to ensure everyone’s safety, and I know a lot of parents are reluctant to take kids trick-or-treating to protect them. I understand the reasons, but I still feel very sad about it.
I decided I will do my best this year for the kids in my neighbourhood to have a fun Halloween, as they deserve.
Here is my plan!
In the first half of the month we will send cards made by the three munchkins (Arianna and her cousins) to our neighbours to wish them a Happy Halloween and to invite them to bring children for trick-or-treating this year. We will expect them with already made packets with candy, and, also, to reassure them, we will take all the safety measures to ensure that social distancing is kept at all times. We just want for the kids to have the opportunity to maintain a fun tradition.
In order to maintain the social distancing, I thought of a really fun and scary packets for candy to be made before the event, and to spread them along our fence for children to take them themselves. The front yard can be transformed into a maze/fun course with mummy lanterns and pumpkins planted all over.
I am not great at Halloween decorations, but I sure will do my best to be ready for the trick-or-treaters.
I hope they will knock on the door as well, so that we can admire the efforts of costumes, but if they decide they don’t want to, I will be glad to know they got the candy.
The cards were made by Arianna and were touched slightly by me, and we had the most fun time creating them. I pre-cut coloured paper into random shapes and sizes and Arianna glued them into crazy silhouettes, laughing all the way. They are ready to be sent, but I must admit that I am really anxious about this year’s Halloween, as I don’t know yet how everything will turn out to be.

Have a great month and stay safe,
