Spray Painted T-Shirts

Hello there! The hot season is nearly finished, so we want to make the best of it, spending more time outside. Today’s project was fun and easy to do with the kids (2 and 8 years old), and now we get to wear personalised t-shirts that cost us nothing.

Spray painted t-shirts can be done in million ways, and based on your level of creativity, there could be really interesting products resulted.

We used liquid fabric paint that I found on E-Bay (this product), which was bought for other project, and I transferred it into small spray bottles to ease the process. When you buy the paint, you receive some instructions and ideas, some extra bags and rubber bands, so you can really experiment the painting the t-shirts based on your imagination. Gloves and plastic bags or cardboard are also needed.

We used a clothes airer to hang the t-shirts as I found it suitable for the heights of the kids, but before this I put a garbage plastic bag (unused and unopened) in between the middle of the t-shirt, as I didn’t want for the paint to transfer on the back side. Depending on your design, you can use this or skip this step.

Now just start spraying, unleash your imagination and create personalised, unique designs. You can use stickers to avoid certain areas to be sprayed, creating silhouettes, or use a fabric felt tip to define and add more life to your t-shirt. Glue or stitch any other details if you want, make that t-shirt worth taking out!

We painted for fun, on beginners levels, so that Arianna can enjoy it as well and relax during this project, while my niece can work on her artistic side, as she is talented and has brilliant ideas.

Next time, we might try to paint brush the t-shirts, but it will be in a few years, when Arianna will be old enough to understand and explore.

Hope you liked this idea and you will try it. Please share your thoughts and share your creations in comments section.

Stay safe,

I have started this blog to combine the two and to help others as well to get ideas and embrace motherhood the way I did. As a full time working mum, I do have struggles, and finding the balance between family and career is still a big issue for me. My blog reflects my struggles and shares the tips I have learnt along my journey, plus a lot of crafts and activities. Please leave your feedback in comments and subscribe if you like my content.
